The Ojai Jacket
Modeled after the iconic French chore coat, The Ojai Jacket is crafted with unique details that place it ahead of the pack of men’s work jackets. Dress it up or dress it down—The Ojai is a wardrobe staple you can count on for years to come.
What is a chore coat?
Originating in 19th century France, the chore coat was a popular choice amongst laborers, rail workers, and farmers thanks to its roomier fit and its host of large patch pockets for storing everything a worker would need, from tobacco tins to hand tools. While we’ve applied a slightly elevated cut and rendered our chore coat, The Ojai Jacket, in an array of hard wearing materials, the quintessential elements remain the same; four big pockets, button closure, a pointed collar, and enough blue collar grit to take on years of hard wear. What kind of chore coats does Taylor Stitch have?
Over the years and into the future, we continue to iterate on our classic Ojai Jacket, retooling it in a slew of work-ready materials while keeping the blueprint untouched. From lightweight linen to durable denim, fall-ready cords to weather-resistant waxed canvas. No matter which flavor of Ojai you go for, its heritage inspired design and versatile silhouette will take you from a hard day’s labor to a night on the town for many years to come.
How do you style a work jacket?
The roomier fit and casual yet considered tailoring of The Ojai make it a perfect layering piece in any season. Throw it on over one of our tidy oxford shirts like The Jack and pair it up with some chinos for an office-ready look that can transition to an evening cocktail with ease. Or wear it over a cotton t-shirt with your favorite set of blue jeans for an easy going look that still looks put together. In chilly weather, we tend to opt for a chunky sweater underneath for even more textural curb appeal. The options are pretty much endless.
